Obecność

Były tu przed Tobą. Co więcej, wcale nie ukrywają śladów swojej obecności. Rozejrzyj się uważnie po miejscu, w którym jesteś. Po czym poznajesz, że leśne zwierzęta także tu przebywają?

Tropy, czyli odbite w podłożu łapy lub kopyta wydają się oczywistym dowodem obecności. Być może zwrócisz uwagę na sierść wbitą w chropowatą korę drzew, wyleżaną trawę lub odchody. Ale przecież zwierzęta to nie tylko duże ssaki, takie jak dzik, sarna czy lis, ale szereg mniejszych i całkiem mikroskopijnych.

Na pewno rozpoznasz bez trudu, czy ktoś przeglądał rzeczy na Twoim biurku.
Jeśli odłożył używane przez Ciebie przedmioty w inny sposób, niż robisz to Ty, zwróci to Twoją uwagę. A przecież to drobny szczegół. W ten sam sposób można dowiedzieć się, co działo się w lesie, zanim przyszliśmy tutaj na spacer! Nie musisz być specjalistą od tropienia zwierząt.

Wystarczy uważnie przyglądnąć się temu, co widzisz dookoła.
Dziury liściach młodych drzew? Kto ma takie zęby, żeby zrobić ja tak równo?
Pióro leżące na ziemi? Jak duże musiało być skrzydło ptaka, z którego ono wypadło?

To, że nie widzimy pozostałych mieszkańców lasu w tym momencie nie oznacza, że ich tutaj nie ma. Widzisz tylko moment “tu i teraz”, ale dzięki swojej uważności możesz dostrzec niewidoczną na pierwszy rzut oka przeszłość!

Presence

They have been here before you. What’s more, they don’t hide their presence at all. Look carefully around the place where you are. How do you recognise that forest animals are also here?
 

Tracks, i.e. paw or hoof prints in the ground, seem to be obvious evidence of their presence. You may also notice fur embedded in rough tree bark, flattened grass or droppings. But animals are not only large mammals, such as wild boar, roe deer or foxes, but also a number of smaller and quite microscopic ones.
 

You will certainly recognise without difficulty if someone has looked through the things on your desk. If the used items have been put away in a different way to how you would do it, it will catch your attention. And yet it is a small detail.
In the same way, you can find out what happened in the forest before we came here for a walk! You don’t need to be an animal tracking expert. Just look carefully at what you see around you. Leaf holes in young trees? Who has the teeth to cut such a neat hole? A feather on the ground? How big must the bird’s wing have been that the feather came from?
 

Just because we can’t see the other residents of the forest at the moment, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t there. You only see the moment ‘here and now’, but thanks to your mindfulness, you can perceive the past, which is invisible at first glance!
